Mobile Press-Register - July 2011

This article was recently published in the Mobile Press-Register. The Gay House, as it's known, was built in 1899. The house has sat empty after a fire partially destroyed the upstairs in 2007. Southern Accents recently started salvaging the more significant and historic parts of the home. Columns, trim, windows and the casings, along with everything that might be valuable to someone else will be taken. These items will be available for sale to renovators and collectors. Southern Lady - May/June 2011

Pick up the May/June 2011 issue of "Southern Lady" and you'll discover an insightful view of some of the wonderfully unique treasures that can be found at Southern Accents! This two page spread titled "Artful Architecture" features photos of some of the beautiful wares that can be found in their extensive collection of architectural antiques. Along with the gorgeous snapshots we learn that owner, Garlan Gudger Jr. owns an enviable stash of antique doorknobs including one from the Biltmore House and another from JFK's New York apartment! Alabama Magazine - January/February 2011

The article, which also showcases the beautiful photography of Audrey Land, tells the story of Dr. Gudger and how he turned a hobby of collecting architectural antiques, which he stored in his garage, into a successful business. This Sept. 9, 2010 photo released by Bradley Dean shows another view of the Billy Reid spring collection along with the backdrops designed by Cullman businessman Garlan Gudger with pieces from his business Southern Accents.

For Kolby Lawrence, left, and Garlan Gudger it's back to the real world from the NYC world of high fashion. "I was fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of something so extraordinary," said Gudger.

The pictures above were featured in a Lifestyle article from the October 13, 2010 issue of the Cullman Times. The article follows Southern Accents owner Garlan Gudger and manager Kolby Lawrence as they worked to design and then travel to New York to help construct the set for Menswear Designer Billy Reid's spring fashion show. A Moment With Billy Reid - September 2010

The September 2010 issue of The Daily gives Southern Accents a mention on "The Fix" page in their "A Moment With Billy Reid" section. In talking about the set for his recent fashion show in New York, Billy was asked the question, What's it made out of? His reply: "A friend of ours loaned us doors to use as a backdrop. He has six or seven hundred! He owns an architecture and salvage shop in southern Alabama called Southern Accents".
